Gordon began his career with Armour Construction Consultants (then R Armour and Partners) in 1975 when he joined as an apprentice and student of the College of Estates Management. Having risen to Assistant Quantity Surveyor in 1982, he joined another well-known Glasgow practice and returned to Armours in 1983 as Senior Assistant. Rising through the ranks, Gordon achieved Associate in 1988 and Partner of the Kilmarnock Office in 1995 and subsequently Senior Partner.
The experience and wealth of knowledge Gordon has gained across all sectors of the construction industry during a career spanning more than 40 years in Private Practice ensures all of our clients receive excellent service.
Over the years, Gordon has successfully fulfilled the roles of Project Quantity Surveyor, Employer’s Agent, Project Manager, Fund Manager and Project Partner on a diverse range of project types from new build social housing to refurbishments/restorations of listed buildings, and creation of high quality leisure accommodation. He is also a longstanding member of the Ayrshire Architectural Heritage Trust.
Clients have included Irvine Housing Association, Scottish Enterprise, NHS Ayrshire and Arran, Primary Health Care Centres Ltd, East Ayrshire Council, North Ayrshire Council, South Ayrshire Council, Kilmarnock Football Club Ltd, Costley and Costley Hoteliers Ltd and HBOS.
Recently Gordon has been heavily involved with South Ayrshire Council and Ayr Renaissance LLP in the development of the Ayr Renaissance Strategy.
Gordon firmly believes in maintaining close supervision of all projects that are awarded to his team and consistently finds that taking an active role in the delivery of the Practice’s Quantity Surveying commissions significantly enhances the effectiveness of his role.
