Using a mix of traditional/timber kit, timber kit and steel frame construction to form the 3, 4, 5 and 7 storey blocks, the external envelope has been finished in rainscreen cladding, facing brick and copper cladding to the external walls and standing seam zinc/copper and tiled roofs. Consideration had to be given to the construction being adjacent to a busy railway line, including use of Sound Acoustician Engineers, selection of appropriately specified windows and close working relationship between the Contractor and Network Rail.
External landscaping comprised extensive "green" areas comprising grassed areas and substantial areas of shrubbery, which also assisted in providing a buffer zone between the residential units and neighbouring railway line, together with a new play area within the central core of the development, overlooked by all blocks. |
